Karen has been a professional exhibiting artist since 1991 She has works in
corporate and private collections both nationally and internationally. To
date she has held 19 solo exhibitions and has participated in many group
shows.
Although originally from England Karen has lived for a number of years in
Sri Lanka, Singapore, and South Africa. She has travelled widely and lived
for short periods in Europe USA Asia Africa and South America.
For the last 7 years Karen has lived in Melbourne where she works daily in
her studio. Through her painting she aims to bring people closer to nature
to appreciate and respect the colours shapes and essence that it has to
offer and take the viewer on a journey to the deeper levels that connect
us all.
Working from photos and sketches and visual memories, the light, texture,
colour, and vastness of the Australian landscape and our relationship with
it are a continuing theme and inspiration in Karen’s work. Her paintings
use rich layers of colour and areas of fine detail and texture she aims to
create harmony of depth and strength drawing the eye in, whilst encouraging
a contemplative response.Her quirky sculptures and figurative
work explore some of the essence of what it means to be human
.
