Cliff Sandler is an emerging Sydney artist and recovering design consultant.
He has been painting for the past 10 years, establishing a varied portfolio of
abstract paintings and portraiture.
He has studied with contemporary artist Cyndi Rogoff and exhibited at art
fairs in Sydney and Melbourne. His work primarily
explores the environment, beauty and the interplay between them.
Cliff works with oil paint and graphite on birch wood to create intricate,
detailed pieces. His monochromatic palette and use of wood enables him to
produce etched or burnt characteristics, which are further enhanced by the
wood grain. Wood plays a central role in Cliff’s current series, lending a
unique, natural quality to each piece. As light hits the wood it ignites seams
within the grain, producing luminosity where the painting appears alive.
